Weeks of secret practices culminated in a memorable and enjoyable first ever Interhouse Choir Competition. Cheeky rap lyrics, funny dance moves, air guitar solos, brass instruments, and a big furry mascot all made appearances in the student run choirs. With a theme of British songs, Choirs had to sing ‘Let It Be’ by The Beatles as well as another item of their choice.
Tararua House won the event, drawing ahead of Kapiti in the Overall Interhouse Competition.
Winning student conductor Sarah Wood thoroughly enjoyed the experience. “It’s just great seeing all these people stepping up, and revealing their hidden talents.” Her highlight was coming together with all the other house choirs and singing in unison. “Thanks to Mrs Littley for organising this and to Mr Edmonds and Mrs McKendry for their support from the Music department” the grateful Year 13 student was quick to add.
