Freyberg’s Brendan Hurley with Leilani Tunnage who won the first series of Design Junkies that featured on TV earlier this year. Leilani spoke of her journey so far as a young designer at the Regional Woodskills Competition prize-giving this week. The Woodskills Competition is for secondary school and U-Skills students doing Carpentry and Furniture Making, every year for the past 6 years students have competed against each other for the best made furniture. This year five schools competed; Freyberg, Awatapu, Feilding, PNBHS, and Longburn Adventist College, which is the largest number of schools involved in the competition since its inception. We had 4 entries, with Suede Rothery, Tiana Rollo and Shannen Collins also competing alongside Brendan.

Brendan has been on the U-Skills programme this year. Brendan was placed second with his cabinet that he made. Great achievement mate.
